Biogas
In general biogas consists primarily of methane and carbon dioxide, which is produced in special biogas plants.
A biogas plant is used for generation of biogas out of biomass (e.g. municipal/biological waste, liquid manure, biosolids). The biogas is generated in absence of oxygen by anaerobic digestion or fermentation and the typical composition depending on the feed material is:
40-75 % methan, 25-55 % carbon dioxid, up to 10 % steam as well as minor parts of nitrogen, oxygen, ammonia, hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide.
