Hydrogen Generation Plant
Hydrogenation and desulphurization on hydrogen plants
The natural gas must be hydrogenated and desulphurized before steam reforming in a hydrogen plant. The unsaturated hydrocarbons have to be converted into saturated hydrocarbons and the sulphur compounds have to be hydrogenated into H2S with a small amout of recycled hydrogen. Afterwards the H2S will be absorbed in the desulphurizer. Sulphur effects catalyst poisoning and unsaturated hydrocarbons would cause coking of the catalyst.
