Process Engineer (m/f/d)


Mahler AGS GmbH is an established global provider of gas generation plants. Our innovation and industry expertise have allowed us to deliver more than 4,500 plants worldwide since 1950. Mahler AGS GmbH continues to provide customers across different industries with on-site plants that are both state-of-the-art and cost-effective. Our products include Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen plants, biogas upgrading systems, as well as purification and recovery of technical and process gases.

In order to strengthen our team, we are seeking a Process Engineer (m/f/d) who is motivated and skilled to join our expanding team in Stuttgart, Germany.

Your Responsibilities

  • Detailed technical design and calculations for plant components based on process engineering design
  • Develop P&IDs, Heat and Mass Balances and process data sheets
  • Design of instrumentation and valves
  • Perform equipment sizing and hydraulic analysis using industry-standard tools
  • Develop, maintain, update and analyze engineering documents such as data sheets, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the process, which may involve addressing issues such as capacity increases and sustainability efforts.
  • Suggest and take part in the development of new products and product enhancements
  • Ensure that processes comply with industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols
  • Technical purchasing, including vendor inquiry, assessment and selection
  • Prepare technical reports, operating manuals, and training materials for plant personnel
  • Collaborate on safety reviews and carry out risk assessments
  • Manage modifications or upgrades to existing plants
  • Participate in a culture of continuous improvement by leading initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and sustainability
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team for project execution

Your Profile

  • Highly motivated, solution-oriented engineer, passionate about driving innovation and sustainability
  • A technical degree in a related area to meet our technology offerings
  • 8+ years of experience in plant engineering for the gas processing industry, preferably in hydrogen or oxygen production
  • Understanding processes, measurement, control engineering, and thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen and oxygen production including PSA systems, cryogenics, and carbon capture technologies is desirable
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, inspections, commissioning and training

Your Responsibilities

Your Profile

  • Strong technical background in mechanical or process engineering, or a related discipline and successful completion of a technical degree in a related area
  • 8+ years of experience in plant engineering for the gas processing industry, preferably in hydrogen production
  • Knowledge of industrial gas production technologies
  • Eager to expand your knowledge and further develop your capabilities
  • Communication capabilities to liase with multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, inspections, commissioning and training
  • Fluent in German and English

Your Responsibilities

Customer Requirements & Technical Solutions:

  • Understand and communicate customer- and project-specific requirements, and apply process engineering solutions to address inquiries
  • Process engineering design of plants based on project specifications and inquiries
  • Knowledge of P&IDs, Heat and Mass Balances and process documents
  • Prepare necessary process information (such as utility consumptions and process descriptions) for technical proposals

Quotation & Project Management:

  • Process the technical and commercial aspects of project inquiries, including project discussions with the customer from inquiry to order
  • Preparing technical and commercial quotations
  • Price determination and price calculations
  • Project discussions and contract negotiations with or at the customer's premises

Sales & Marketing:

  • Maintaining and expanding customer relationships worldwide
  • Acquisition of new customers
  • Market observation and preparation of market and competition analyses
  • Determining market and customer requirements
  • Identifying new areas of application, markets and sales distribution channels
  • Proposals and participation in new developments, product improvements and trials (such as capacity increases and sustainability efforts)
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and sustainability

Your Profile

  • Highly motivated, solution-oriented engineer, passionate about driving innovation and sustainability
  • Degree in process engineering or a comparable engineering degree
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and measurement and control technology
  • Very good written and spoken English
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with international customers
  • Willingness to travel for meetings with customers and to represent our company at international trade fairs, events and conferences
  • Independent, structured way of working and initiative
  • Confidence in negotiations and customer focus
  • Knowledge of hydrogen and oxygen production including PSA systems, cryogenics, and carbon capture technologies is desirable
